Inspired by the Red Sand Project that honors victims of human trafficking, this purple sand recognizes International Overdose Awareness Day on August 31st each year.

Each grain of purple sand represents the millions of men and women around the world who have been unfortunately lost to overdose.

The Hamilton County Coalition, in collaboration with the State of Tennessee, Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services invite you to make time to remember the victims by:
  • Filling the gaps in the sidewalks with purple sand
  • Taking a picture of your sidewalk
  • Upload the image to Social Media: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and TikTok and
  • Tag The Hamilton County Coalition using #EndOverdose.
Through this initiative and community support we can bring awareness to addicton and overdose deaths in Hamilton County and across Southeast Tennessee!
